Active in Another State? Get the Waiver Steps First —
Then Prepare for the Idaho State Exam Portion
Idaho Real Estate License for Out-of-State Agents
Idaho doesn't have real estate license reciprocity — but if your out-of-state license is active, the state will waive the national exam and all prelicense education. You only need to pass the Idaho state exam portion.
- National exam portion
- All prelicense education (90 hours)
- Broker experience requirement (if applicable)
- Idaho state exam (40 questions, 70% to pass)
- Fingerprints + background check
- E&O insurance
- DOPL application + fees
Try a 10-question practice quiz built from the topics students miss most.
- 1Order a certified license history from your primary state of licensure. This often takes 3–6 weeks — start early.
- 2Create a Pearson Professional Assessments candidate ID at pearsonvue.com/id/realestate and note the ID on your waiver form.
- 3Email your certified license history + completed waiver request form to [email protected].
- 4Wait for waiver approval before scheduling the exam. Scheduling before the waiver is applied may require you to take both portions.
- 5Schedule and pass the Idaho state portion through Pearson Professional Assessments. The state portion has 40 scored questions with a 90-minute time limit and a 70% passing threshold.
- 6Complete fingerprints, obtain E&O insurance, and submit your application through the DOPL Online Services portal.

I picked this class because the schedule was ideal. Barb is an awesome teacher. She's very energetic and has a ton of real world examples/stories to benefit you. Believe it... read more or not the class was fun. Highly recommend this class.

The course is offered virtually with a live instructor who is engaging, caring, and has a wealth of experience to share with the students. This is not a self-guided course,... read more so you need to be present, on camera, and ready to respond at any time. So much more convenient than having to travel 30 or 90 minutes to attend a course 5 times a week. And it probably kept my attention better than if I had just been a physical body in a seat.

Terrific class. We had an enthusiastic, engaging instructor in Barb Laws, and a weekend schedule that caters to those of us who work during the week. Haven't taken... read more the license exam yet, but key concepts are hard-wired into my brain because of the targeted repetition and I feel well prepared. They were also very accommodating of my schedule, allowing me to take Modules 1 and 2 on slightly different schedules. Highly recommend.

This is an excellent way to get qualified for or do continuing education for real estate. Whether you want to become an agent or are looking to get some credits... read more to renew your license, there's no better place to do it, in my opinion, than at the Idaho Online Real Estate Academy.

I learned everything I needed to from the incredible instructor. The teaching tactics may not be for everyone, take that into consideration. It is very much so a lecture and you take notes and study on your own time. That being said, the curriculum is very informative and covers enough of the basics. This is based off of the first mandatory class Pre-license Module 1.

I loved doing my Real Estate module classes with Idaho Online Real Estate Academy. I needed a class to work with my schedule and to be able to participate in the evenings. This class was perfect. I was worried about doing a class through zoom, but the instructor Nikki kept the information flowing and the class interesting. Nikki really helped us know the information we needed in order to pass the class and I appreciated that. It was nice to be in comfort of my own home, but felt like I was learning all I needed to about Real Estate. I would recommend this online course to anyone looking into Idaho Real Estate!
