State exam, fingerprint, and application fees ($283) are paid separately — see the full cost breakdown.
Need help covering the cost? Idaho residents may qualify for Idaho LAUNCH state funding.
Can Idaho pay for my real estate classes? (Idaho LAUNCH)
Yes — through the Idaho LAUNCH program, the State of Idaho may cover up to 80% of your tuition. Idaho Online Real Estate Academy is the first real estate school in Idaho accepted as an approved provider.
  • Working-age adults (18+): apply year-round through IdahoWorks. Up to $3,500.
  • Graduating seniors (Class of 2027): apply through Next Steps Idaho. Up to $8,000. Deadline: April 15, 2027.
  • Estimated out-of-pocket: $179 for the $895 program (the student pays 20%).
  • A grant, not a loan — with conditions: funds may have to be paid back if you leave the program before finishing, are dismissed for unsatisfactory progress, or (adults) move out of Idaho. Leaving for a job related to your training is an exception.
What's included in the Free Pass-Fast Bonus Package?
Every student who enrolls through Idaho Online Real Estate Academy receives four extra study resources at no extra cost:
  • Exam Prep Accountability Plan: a simple study plan to keep momentum through the 90 hours.
  • Math Help for the Real Estate Exam: extra support for the common math problem types.
  • Exam Flashcards (250 key terms): Idaho real estate concepts most likely to matter on the exam.
  • Full Course Video Explanations: instructor walkthroughs for the entire course, including real student questions.
Bonus access is sent after you enroll through our link. These resources come from us, not The CE Shop, so you won't receive them if you enroll directly. Preview the bonus materials →
Course details
Can I complete the course entirely online?
Yes. Idaho allows the full 90 hours of prelicense education to be completed online. The self-paced course runs on The CE Shop's LEAP platform — accessible from any device, any time, with your progress saved automatically. There is no requirement to attend in-person classes.
A free trial is available if you want to explore the platform before committing. No credit card required.
Do I need both Module 1 and Module 2?
Yes — both are required. Idaho mandates 90 total hours, split into two courses:
  • Module 1 — Idaho Real Estate Practices (45 hrs): state-specific laws, agency, contracts, regulatory rules.
  • Module 2 — Real Estate Principles (45 hrs): national concepts — ownership, valuation, finance, closings.
You must pass both module exams before you can sit for the state licensing exam. All packages on this page bundle both modules together — there's no need to enroll separately.
What is the seat-time requirement?
Idaho requires students to spend a minimum amount of active time in each course section before moving on. The platform tracks your engagement automatically — you cannot fast-forward or skip content. This ensures you engage with the material, but it doesn't prevent motivated students from moving at a steady pace. Think of it as a minimum speed, not a maximum.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The CE Shop offers a free trial of the 90-hour Idaho salesperson package with no credit card required. You can explore the LEAP learning platform, preview course content, and confirm the format works for you before paying. If you like it, enroll through our link to get the Free Pass-Fast Bonus Package.

Completing & next steps
How long does it take to finish the course?
Most students complete both modules in 3 to 6 weeks studying 15–30 hours per week. Treated like a full-time commitment, you could finish in as few as three weeks. You have 7 months of access (6 months plus a free 1-month extension), with paid 30-day extensions available after that.
After finishing the course, the full licensing process (exam, fingerprints, application) typically adds another 2–4 weeks. See the Idaho Licensing Process Guide for the complete timeline.
What Idaho real estate exam prep is most effective?
The most effective approach combines practice questions with focused review:
  • Practice exams covering both national and Idaho state portions
  • Idaho license law & rules handbook for state-specific review
  • Course review materials from Module 1 + Module 2
  • Flashcards for rapid-fire term review

Study strategy: Take practice exams until you're consistently scoring 80%+. Prioritize your lowest-scoring topics, focus on Idaho-specific rules in the final 1–2 weeks, and schedule the exam while the material is still fresh.

For a full breakdown of what’s on the test, when to start studying, and the topics Idaho students miss most, see our Idaho real estate exam prep guide.

If you are starting from scratch, the Standard, Value, and Premium packages include Exam Prep Edge with unlimited practice exams and a readiness indicator. If you already completed your coursework elsewhere, you may only need exam prep only instead of a full prelicense package. All students enrolled through IOREA also receive 250 free flashcards.
What if I fail the Idaho real estate exam?
You can retake the exam after 24 hours. Idaho's retake rules:
  • If you fail one section (national or state), you only retake the section you failed.
  • Each attempt costs the exam fee again ($83).
  • You must pass the remaining section — and submit your license application — within one year of the date you passed the first section, or you retake the whole exam.
  • There is no limit on the number of retakes.
Tip: Review your score report to identify weak areas, focus your study there, and reschedule when you're scoring 80%+ on practice exams.
