How Idaho LAUNCH, Next Steps Idaho, and Idaho Dept. of Labor Work Together

Idaho’s workforce funding ecosystem connects three programs to support eligible career training pathways such as Real Estate Sales Agent (SOC 41-9022). In most cases, working-age adults complete workforce and application steps through IdahoWorks, while graduating high school seniors complete student-side planning and Idaho LAUNCH steps in Next Steps Idaho. Idaho LAUNCH is the grant mechanism that may reduce approved training costs, subject to state rules and available funding.

Idaho Dept. of Labor

The Idaho Department of Labor oversees workforce services and operates the IdahoWorks portal where many adults begin their eligibility and application workflow.

Next Steps Idaho

Next Steps Idaho is the student-facing portal where graduating seniors explore pathways, complete planning requirements, and submit Idaho LAUNCH steps through the official state process.

Idaho LAUNCH

Idaho LAUNCH is the grant program that may cover up to 80% of approved training costs in eligible pathways. For real estate licensing, adults and seniors may qualify under different state-defined rules.

Idaho Online Real Estate Academy is the first real estate school in Idaho accepted as an approved provider in the Idaho LAUNCH program, creating a lower-cost pathway to licensing for eligible learners.

Eligibility, award decisions, timelines, and final program rules are set by Idaho state agencies and may change. Always verify current requirements in official state portals.

Common Questions

What is Idaho LAUNCH?
Idaho LAUNCH is a State of Idaho grant program that provides funding for residents to train for in-demand careers. The program covers up to 80% of tuition and fees — up to $8,000 for graduating high school seniors and up to $3,500 for working-age adults. Real Estate Sales Agent (SOC 41-9022) is one of the approved career pathways. Graduating seniors apply through Next Steps Idaho, and adults apply through IdahoWorks (Idaho Department of Labor).
Is real estate an Idaho LAUNCH approved career?
Yes. Real Estate Sales Agent is classified as an in-demand occupation by the State of Idaho (SOC Code: 41-9022) and is eligible for Idaho LAUNCH funding. Idaho Online Real Estate Academy is the first real estate school in Idaho accepted as an approved provider in the program.
How much will I actually pay out of pocket?
If approved for the full 80% grant, your estimated out-of-pocket tuition cost is approximately $155 for a class that costs $778. You'll also need to budget separately for fingerprinting, the state exam fee, and the license application fee — these are standard Idaho licensing costs not covered by the grant.
What's the difference between the student ($8,000) and adult ($3,500) programs?
Graduating high school seniors (Class of 2026) apply through Next Steps Idaho and can receive up to $8,000. Working-age adults apply through IdahoWorks (Idaho Dept. of Labor) and can receive up to $3,500. Both cover 80% of tuition and fees. Since our course costs $778, either cap is more than enough to cover the 80% portion ($622.40). The practical difference is mostly in the application process and deadlines — students have an April 15 deadline while adult funding is year-round.
Do I need to come back after approval to enroll?
Yes. Getting approved for State funding is Step 1. After approval, you still need to return to our site, select your class, and pay your 20% portion to begin learning. Funding approval does not automatically enroll you in the course.
Can I start classes before my funding is approved?
If you're enrolling through the State-funded program, you need approval in place first. If you'd rather start immediately without waiting for funding, you can enroll directly at full price from our class schedule page.
What if I'm not approved — can I still enroll?
Absolutely. You can enroll at full price from our class schedule page at any time — no funding required. You'll want to weigh whether the potential cost savings justify the application time.
How long does the Idaho LAUNCH application take?
For adults applying through IdahoWorks, the process typically takes 2–3 weeks from creating your account to receiving approval. For graduating seniors applying through Next Steps Idaho, the timeline depends on when you apply relative to the April 15 deadline — earlier applications may receive faster decisions.
