Choosing the right path
Which Idaho real estate course do I need?
It depends on where you are now:
  • Brand new to real estate: start with prelicense education.
  • Finished your coursework: choose exam prep.
  • Licensed in another state: use the out-of-state path.
  • Newly licensed: choose post-license education.
  • Renewing an active license: choose continuing education (CE).
Where should I start if I’m completely new to real estate?
Start with the prelicense package comparison page. That page covers the full 90-hour requirement, package options, pricing, and the best fit for most first-time students.
Do I need prelicense or exam prep?
Choose prelicense if you have not yet completed Idaho’s required education. Choose exam prep if you already finished your coursework and want help preparing for the licensing exam.
Exam prep page: Idaho Real Estate Exam Prep.
What’s the difference between post-license and continuing education?
Post-license is for newly licensed agents completing the education required before their first renewal. Continuing education (CE) is for active licensees maintaining their license after that.
Format & funding
Can I take Idaho real estate classes online?
Yes. Idaho allows the required prelicense education to be completed online.
  • Self-paced online: start anytime and study on your own schedule.
  • Live instructor-led online: structured sessions offered when enough demand exists.
What’s the difference between self-paced and live online classes?
Self-paced online lets you start anytime, pause anytime, and study when it works for you. Live online classes follow a set schedule with instructor guidance and real-time Q&A.
Can Idaho pay for my real estate classes? (Idaho LAUNCH)
Yes. Eligible Idaho students may qualify for Idaho LAUNCH funding, which can cover a large portion of tuition.
Check details and eligibility: Idaho LAUNCH Program Page.
Exam prep & out-of-state
Where should I go for Idaho real estate exam prep?
If you already finished your coursework and want help preparing for the licensing exam, go directly to our exam prep page.
I’m already licensed in another state. Do I need the full 90 hours?
No. If your out-of-state license is active, Idaho may waive the prelicense education requirement and the national portion of the exam. In many cases, you only need the Idaho state portion.
